The Indian cricket team has dropped the charges of misconduct
and foul language against Brad Hogg barely a week after the most infamous
test in recent years between India and Australia. Anil Kumble reportedly
held a long meeting with Australian skipper Ricky Pointing and he later
remarked that the decision was in the interest of the game and would benefit
cricketing relations between both the countries, which have gone sour in the
recent past.
Brad Hogg was alleged by Indian manager Chetan Chauhan of making
racial comments towards Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Anil Kumble on
the last day of a hard fought test match in Sydney and was soon reported, almost
as an aftermath of Australian teams allegations over racial misconduct
on Harbhajan Singh. Brad Hogg made his comeback into the Australian test cricket
team after nearly a decade and has been played an instrumental role in Australia
two victories so far.
With the dropping of charges against Brad Hogg, the Australian
team is now under increasing pressure to lift their charges against Harbhajan
Singh. However, this may not be possible technically as the complaint against
Harbhajan was made by two umpires under the given word of Ricky Pointing while
the charge of Hogg was made by the Indian manager. In other related news, Harbhajan
Singh will be now allowed to participate in the next two tests matches as his
hearing has been postponed till the end of the series.
With the Indian cricket team two down against Australia
and looking to make a forceful comeback, this news comes as a welcome breath
of fresh air to millions of cricket fans following the men in blue through print,
television, live online cricket scores and live streaming networks.
