This one seems to be heading towards a spat between Rajasthan Royals and
the Mumbai Indians. The captain of the Royals, Shane Warne has said that
he was unhappy over the statement that Sachin Tendulkar had made about
the Jaipur wicket on which the Mumbai Indians had played a game against the Rajasthan
Royals. The Mumbai Indians were bowled out for 94 and the Royals struggled to
get to the score as well.
Tendulkar had called the track a bit two-paced and the ball had continuously not
bounced up on to the bat.
Warne accused the Mumbai Indians of making excuses and said that the Mumbai Indians
were not happy with the fact that they had got to only 94 in their 20 overs. He
also added that the Mumbai Indians should accept the fact that the better side
had won the game.
Warne said that he wasn't happy with a pitch inspector from the pitch committee
of BCCI had come to inspect the wicket after the Mumbai Indians had lodged a complaint
and that wasn't necessary given that this was the same pitch on which the Kolkata
Knight Riders had gone on to make 160 for the loss of one wicket only.
He also praised the Rajasthan Cricket Association and curator Taposh Chatterjee
for having made an excellent wicket for both, the batsmen and the bowlers and
added that he was disappointed by te complaint.
Warne accused that there had been other pitches in the country and in the IPL
that had been much slower and lower than the one at the Sawai Man Singh stadium
but there had been no complaint against them.
The chairman of the Pitch Committee of BCCI, Venkat Sundaram had had a chat with
the Rajasthan cricket officials after having a look at the pitch.
According to the Mumbai Indians captain, Sachin Tendulkar, the pitch
was double-paced and was difficult to bat on for the Mumbai Indians.
At the current moment, the Mumbai Indians are at the third position in the points
table with ten point from seven games, behind the Rajasthan Royals who have 11
points from nine games and Kolkata, who have 10 from eight games.
Rajasthan later beat Pune to get to the top of the table after they had not won
a single game of the four that they had played after winning three in a row.
