Mahela Jayawerdene is the Man of the Match and the Man of the Series for aggregating 474 runs in this series.

A draw that England really didn''''t deserve. They were outplayed in the three departments and would consider themselves very lucky to have been spared an emabrassing defeat. Sri Lanka rise to the third position in the test rankings while England slide down to the fifth position. Join us on boxing day for test matches and an ODI. Until then, it''''s goodbye and Merry Christmas.

Update 3:45 pm : Play has officially been called off. The match is drawn and Sri Lanka win the series 1-0.

Off go the players again. Another rain delay and frankly nobody seems to have a clue how long this is going to last.

90.3 Muralitharan to Prior, no run, gets forward this time, and blocks cleanly

90.2 Muralitharan to Prior, no run, shorter and hurried through, goes on the backfoot and looks to defend, the ball thuds into the pad, loud appeal there but Umpire Rauf correctly suggests that the ball was heading down the leg side

89.6 Vaas to Cook, no run, short delivery angled down the leg side, looks to pull it down to fine leg, doesn''t connect!

Tamim Iqbal failed to be at his fittest best and couldn''t bat in this innings. He dislocated his thumb in a process to catch one while fielding at 1st slip yesterday. He was seen walking across the fence this morning with a sling tied up which says the whole thing. A dislocated thumb was enough to rule him out of the last innings of this game.

Oram to Mortaza, out Caught by Mills at point!! Fullish delivery outside the off stump, sliding into the right hander sharply, Mortaza stays rooted inside the crease again and looks to drive it through the covers, hits it on the up and that one is very very wide of the point fielder, Mills throws himself around, flies to his right and plucks an absolute blinder within thin air to end this game, that is as good a catch as you would get to see, Oram picks up the final wicket as New Zealand win this game by an innings and 137 runs! Mortaza c Mills b Oram 6(25) [4s-1]

46.6 Oram to Mortaza, THATS OUT!! Caught!!

46.5 Oram to Mortaza, no run, terrific spell of swing bowling, short of length delivery on the middle and leg, well directed towards the body, Mortaza goes on the backfoot and drops out of the way at the last moment, excellent delivery and well played by the No.10 as well!

46.4 Oram to Mortaza, no run, fuller length delivery on the off, holding its line this time, Mortaza doesn''t move his feet much, looks to play for the swing, beats the outside edge again, Oram is getting under the skin of Mortaza here

46.3 Oram to Mortaza, no run, fuller length delivery on the stumps, sliding into the right hander, Mortaza shows the full face of the bat and defends it straight back to the bowler

46.2 Oram to Mortaza, no run, back of a length delivery on the off, angling into the right hander and then leaves him a trifle at the last moment, Mortaza goes on the backfoot and plays away from his body, almost an outside edge there, this is really frustrating for New Zealand! this pair has been out there in the middle for almost half an hour now

46.1 Oram to Shakib, 1 run, touch short of good length delivery on the middle and leg, hurrying onto the left hander, Shakib shuffles across and glances it to fine leg for a single only

45.6 Vettori to Mortaza, no run, Vettori tosses it up on the off, curving in and spins away from the right hander, Mortaza gets forward and looks to defend it, outside edges that to gully, just wide and short of 1st slip

45.5 Vettori to Shakib, 1 run, delivery looped up outside the off stump, holding its line on that occasion, doesn''t spin much there, Shakib kneels down and scoops it to deep square leg for a single only

45.4 Vettori to Shakib, no run, that''s the arm ball outside the off stump, gets the line wrong on that occasion, Shakib comes on the frontfoot and looks to drive, beats the outside edge

45.3 Vettori to Shakib, no run, flattish delivery on the off, angling into the left hander, Shakib goes on the backfoot and punches it to mid on, straight to the fielder on that occasion

45.2 Vettori to Shakib, no run, flighted delivery on the off, angling into the left hander and then spins away, Shakib gets right behind and defends it solidly on the off side

45.1 Vettori to Shakib, 2 runs, Vettori tosses it up outside the off stump, angling into the left hander, Shakib moves across the crease and spoons it to fine leg ala Marilier for a couple, cheeky shot this!
