The South Africans emerge victorious in the first of the five ODIs thanks to a
match winning effort from the young man Jean Paul Duminy. Earlier today, the start
of the series was dampened by heavy showers which saw the docking off of overs
and this game was curtailed to a 36 over a side affair. Smith decided to bowl
first and his bowlers didn''t let him down and at one stage it seemed that West
Indies would fail to cross even 120. Morton and Sammy had different ideas as they
consolidated the innings to post a fighting total on the board. The home side
didn''t start off well either and lost it''s way till Duminy held the fort. How
many times have we seen the Windies throwing away games after tightening the leash,
they have done it once again today and as a result of it, are 1 down in this series.
There is a lot of homework to be done by both the sides before playing the second
game. Do join us for that on the 25th of January. Hope you enjoyed this exciting
contest. Till then from all of us here in the comm box, Adios...
