The weather tomorrow will remain cloudy through-out with no or very low chances
of rain. Now with rain out of the equation, we should have a humdinger of a
contest tomorrow. The stage is set, the players are ready and its battle time
for the Asian rivals who will have one final go at each other to determine the
course of this series. Do join us as we bring you the live coverage tomorrow
at 23:00 GMT.
Sri Lanka have similar problems up the order, where they do not have a settled
opening pair. Various combinations have been tried so far, with Dilshan and
Perera giving Jayasurya company. It has worked a few a times but it has come
off miserably otherwise giving Jaywardene a big head-ache. The bigger problem
is that though wicket-keeper batsman Sangakkara is in the form of his life,
he has hardly had any support from the rest of his team-mates who keep falling
like nine-pins in front of him. The middle order is just as vulnerable as their
opponents?. So it will be left to Sangakkara and Jaywardene to provide their
bowlers with something to bowl at. Depending on the conditions Sri Lanka also
might choose to go in with the extra seamer to make use of the early moisture
present in the pitch.
India will have to sort out their batting line-up with the top-order falling
with consummate ease every time, putting too much pressure on the already brittle
middle order. Dhoni will be hoping that his star-rated opening pair comes good
in this decider, for if they fire, they will leave Yuvraj and Co with a relatively
easier task of piling up a big total. Uthappa, who was brilliant in the last
match against the Aussies, might get a promotion up the order as Dhoni had pointed
out in the presentation ceremony. Both the teams would be looking to play the
extra bowler, for Bellerive Oval traditionally assists the fast bowlers early
on and becomes easier for batting as the match progresses. In that scenario,
Munaf Patel, if he recovers from the food poisoning which had kept him out of
the previous match, might just make it to the playing eleven.
India and Sri Lanka have played each other thrice so far, with a victory apiece
and one match ending in a no-result. This encounter thus becomes a virtual semi-final
between the two, where in a defeat for Sri Lanka will end their stay in the
tournament, while a Sri Lankan victory will give them another shot to redeem
themselves against the World Champions. For if they win against Australia in
their final league match on 29th February it will be India who will sit out
of the finals. So this very easily becomes the most important tie of the series
and both the teams are expected to come hard at each other, have no doubts about
that.
This has been one of the most closely contested Triangular series involving
Australia in Australia. Both India and Sri Lanka have had their chances against
the World Champions, but failed to deliver the sucker punch. Thus where Australia
have eased their way into the finals, these two are involved in a mighty scrap
for a place in the battle for the title.
Hello and Welcome for the LIVE coverage of the 11th Game of the CommonWealth
Bank series between the two Asian cricketing Superpowers, India and Sri Lanka.
This is going to be a crucial tie for both the teams as a loss here might just
give the other a seat in the Finals. It''s now or never for the Lankans as one
defeat and their hopes of making it to the finals of this tournament will be
shattered. The Indians need a win to ensure themselves a berth in the finals,
they won''t like to take any chances here and leave it to their fate. A humdinger
is set to get underway. Stay connected for more news about this match...
India have won the toss and decided to bowl first
It is going to be a cloudy day right throughout this game. There is no forecast
for rain and that is a pleasing thing to know. No fears of wash out. Not much
of sunshine at the moment and there will be only a few instances when we will
see the sun making it''s way out of the clouds.
India have made two changes their side. Praveen Kumar comes in for Virender
Sehwag and Munaf Patel will be replacing Sreesanth. Sri Lanka have made only
one change to their eleven today, Maharoof makes way for Chamara Kapugedera.
The straight boundaries are exactly the same here at Hobart but the square
boundaries are just a touch uneven. On one side, you will see a longish boundary
and the other side, we have boundaries as short as 63 metres. The pitch at Hobart
is pretty much the same we have seen in the past. This is a hard surface without
any grass on it. It is rock solid and there is some moisture in it as well.
With the overcast conditions prevailing at Hobart at the moment, the ball should
swing initially and we might see the spinners getting some purchase later on
in the day
Dilruwan Perera and Sanath Jayasuriya are at the crease. Dilruwan Perera is
on strike. Munaf Patel will open the attack
