Canada's foray into the World Cup began in 1979 when they qualified to play in the tournament but were mauled by all the opponents. This included a 45 all out that the side had had to endure against England.

Their next qualification was straightaway in 2003, after a hiatus of 24 years and the performance was pretty reasonable in the tournament. thanks to the batting of John Davison, Canada's cricket was brought to world map as he smacked the fastest century in World Cup in their game against West Indies. Such was the audacity of his strokeplay that the opposition was stunned into submission and 20 overs went for 155. His dismissal led to a collapse and the rest of the side was bowled out for nothing more.

Earlier in the same World Cup, they had recorded their first ever victory when they beat Bangladesh in the league game to push the more fancied side to the number seven side in the tournament. Canada finished at the number six position in the group, losing the remaining five games.

In the 2007 World Cup, Canada did not have a great time in the West Indies. They were in the same group as New Zealand, England and Kenya and lost to all the teams rather convincingly. They scored 199 against Kenya, 228 versus England and thanks to another quickfire half century by Davison, they got to 249 against the Kiwis, improving with each game.

Apart from that, they have managed to qualify for the 2011 edition of the World Cup by finishing in the top four of the qualifiers and will look to emulate their record in the 2003 World Cup. They are in the same group as Zimbabwe and Kenya and will look to at least get the better of them.
