Goa will have heavy security in place next fortnight for two major crowd pulling
events - the Feburay 14 India-Sri Lanka ODI.
Gun-wielding Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) coupled
with the Goa Police are deployed at different locations while local intelligence
has been put on alert.
Besides conventional intelligence gathering techniques, police have also roped
in the fishermen community to observe suspected movement along porous sea routes.
Police have already begun community policing exercises with a series of meetings
held everyday with seamen. Coastal police stations have also been activated
besides hightening vigil along state borders.
The February 14 India-Sri Lanka One dayer in
south Goa will have stringent security arrangements.
"Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium would be guarded by 1,000
men in uniform and cricket fans can expect little more frisking due to security
concerns," Deputy Inspector General of Police Ujjwal Mishra told
reporters.
