No Bangladeshi cricketer and fan have forgot the humiliation of getting all
out for only 58 runs in the World Cup, so Bangladesh will be trying to take
revenge. Bangladesh have now newly appointed skipper Mushfiqur Rahim
who will be trying desperately to bring some cheers for cricket crazy millions
of fans.
But it will not be an easy task for him as recent performance of Bangladesh
cricket team is not promising enough to get a good result against West Indies.
Bangladesh was recently beaten in ODI and Test series by Zimbabwe which is a
far weaker team than West Indies. Bangladesh's main problem is their batting
which is pretty inconsistent always.
Moreover, Bangladesh will be playing Twenty20 match at home after 5 long years
which is not at all a good sign for Bangladeshi cricket. Their Twenty20 background
is not also rich. They played 16 Twenty20 matches and managed only 3 win. Their
opener Tamim Iqbal must try to be more consistent rather than playing
rash shots though it is a Twenty20 match.
Their batsmen like Alok Kapali who has been brought after long time, Imrul Kayes,
Nayem Islam should be trying to stick to wicket and then hitting big shots otherwise
it might turn into another humiliation.
The home side have got some pretty good spinners like Abdur Razzak, Shakib Al
Hasan whose IPL and CL experience might be effective on the field and Mahmudullah
Riyad who will trying hard and soul to exploit their home condition.
West Indies have lost their golden era long time ago, but this team is still
good enough to beat Bangladesh. They have batsmen like Shivnarine Chanderpaul,
mercurial Marlon Samules who has been scored a century in a practice
Twenty20 match, Adrian Barath and Darren Bravo.
They are too good for Bangladeshi bowling attack especially in a Twenty20 match.
But the main threat from the Caribbean side will be their fast bowlers- Kirk
Edwards, Kemar Roach and Ravi Rampaul who will certainly try to threaten
the home side with their extreme pace and bouncy deliveries.
They also got a good leg spinner Devendra Bishoo who must be trying to get some
wickets in the sub continental track.
It will not be an easy Twenty20 match for the home side to beat the Caribbean
team though there will be no Chris Gayle. West Indies side is also a young side,
so it would be a good match if both teams try to play sensible cricket.
West Indies have the edge because they have depth in all departments and it is
still fresh in their memories that they have recently beaten team like England
at their home in a T20I match.
