Chennai Super Kings is the defending champion and they will be trying to hold
it. Chennai Super Kings lose their first match against their arch rival
Mumbai Indians but they bounced back and got a win against South African team
Cape Cobras which have been very strong so far.
Like every match CSK would be looking to Mike Hussey to play another
brilliant innings. But their middle order has to show that they know how to
build up an innings as both Suresh Raina and Badrinath yet to make an impact.
Fortunately their lower middle order is blessed with smash hitters like skipper
Dhoni, Bravo and South African all rounder Albie Morkel and they have been contributing
a lot especially skipper himself.
CSK's bowlers have been a little bit off colour especially Albie Morkel
who has been too expensive with the new ball. Dough Bollinger has been good
in the last match against Cape Cobras. Dhoni uses spinner Ashwin in the power
play and he always delivers. Changing the bowling order might be effective against
T&T as well.
T&T started the tournament with a lot of hope but they failed to deliver.
They were bowled out for only 98 runs against Mumbai Indians though they made
an incredible contest even in that match. Their bowling has been superb but they
are having a lot of problems with their batting.
It has been shaky. Opener Lendl Simmons has been quite good but his partner
Adrian Barath cannot stay in the wicket long enough to make an impact. A lot
of things were expected from Darren Bravo but he is still unsuccessful. Skipper
Darren Ganga and Dinesh Ramdin have been good in the middle of an innings
but they do need some contribution from the top.
If we consider their bowling then we must give them a lot of credit as they
fought beyond expectation against Mumbai Indians while their batsmen put up
only 98 runs on the board. Ravi Rampaul has been pretty consistent while
Samuel Badree, Sherwin Ganga and Sunil Narine assisted him very well.
This match is expected to be another cracker of Champions League Twenty20
2011. For T&T it would be a gigantic task to beat the depth of Chennai Super
kings especially in batting and charismatic captaincy of Dhoni at their home
ground but nothing is impossible in Twenty20 cricket especially in a tournament
like this.
