The 53rd game of the Indian Premier League will have the Deccan Chargers
take on the Pune Warriors India. The game will be played at the Rajiv
Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad and will have the two bottom-placed sides fight
it out in attempt to get the better of each other and move up in the points table.
No team would, after all, want to finish bottom most.
The situation is such that the two sides have played ten games each and have only
three wins to their name each. Deccan's performances have been rather inconsistent
and their middle order batting can be held responsible for the same.

On the other hand, Pune went on a seven-match losing streak after winning two
games in a row, which was broken only yesterday when they were able to get the
better of the Kings XI Punjab.
However, the problem is that both the sides have been so inconsistent with their
batting that it is difficult for second-guess the result of the game. Even the
home advantage factor does not work in this case, because the Chargers have lost
all but one game at home and hence, will go in as even stevens for the game.
A look at the way the Deccan Chargers batted last game is probably what
they exactly want. They took the hard decision of keeping their future captain
Cameron White out of the side and allowed JP Duminy to go after the bowling.
Duminy scored a half-century while Sangakkara made 44 to allow the side a chance
to get to a winning score.
The Chargers would have also won the game, had it not been for the once in a lifetime
innings from Sehwag, that turned the game around on its head. Not too many could
do much about it, and when two catches got dropped from the batsman, it looked
like it was going to be his day for sure.
The Warriors, on the other hand made a strange choice last game. Sourav Ganguly, who has been selected in the tournament after much dilly-dallying,
did not get a game against the Punjab side and this was after four or five changes
were made to the playing eleven. If that did not win him a game then, it will
be interesting to see what will.
For now though, the two sides are quite evenly poised and that will mean that
it will be difficult to call for a winner.
